Purple Bluet (Houstonia purpurea)

Houstonia purpurea is native to the eastern United States from Maine to Florida, west to Oklahoma and eastern Texas. It grows on well-drained or moist soils in deciduous or mixed forests. The stems are branching and hairy; the leaves are simple, ovate, and opposite; the flowers are whitish-purple or lavender, tubular, with four fused petals; arranged in terminal clusters. The fruit is a capsule.
